Build one shared project brief
Gather photographs, a description of the issues and records of previous work. Nominate one contact to send the same brief to each company. Different assumptions make quotations difficult to compare.
Identify the elevations, balconies, railings and equipment needing protection. Agree how additional work discovered during the project will be authorised.
Plan access and keep occupants informed
Entrances, residents’ movements, balconies and parking are practical matters to address. Access equipment and any required procedures depend on the building and its surroundings.
Ask the building manager and relevant authorities to confirm applicable decisions and permissions. A technical quotation does not replace that check.
Compare and accept the work
Request separate items for preparation, repairs, products, finish, access, protection and exclusions. Define the handover documents and how any outstanding items will be recorded.
