What to assess before painting
Describe where paint is peeling, where marks appear below windows and which surfaces have already been repaired. A general view of each elevation plus close-up photographs helps prepare the visit. On-site checks are still needed to define the work.
Cleaning, repairs, preparation, primer and finish should appear as separate parts of the proposal. The primer and paint must be suitable for the existing surface.
A scope that fits your property
Record the main elevations, boundary walls, outbuildings and elements needing a different treatment. Internal floor area does not tell us the exterior painting area. Access and protection also affect the quotation.
Ask which products and preparation methods are included, which surfaces are covered and which items are excluded. Drying periods and weather conditions are part of project planning.
When a different assessment is needed
A changing crack, loose render or repeated water entry needs investigation before finishing. If thermal comfort is your priority, also consider whether external wall insulation should be assessed.
